The Traveling Diaries No.16

"Mercato delle Pulci"
by Angelic Roman

I've said it before, to get to know a place, you should get to know the markets. I was especially excited to check out Mercato delle Pulci (located in Piazza Ciompi), Florence's antique market. It expands in size on the last Sunday of the month and is a perfect way to spend a Sunday morning: treasure hunting. I found some great trinkets and discards of fur and leather here as well as all sorts of things that I desperately wished I could fit in my luggage. It was really interesting to speak to vendors and see where certain pieces came from, leaf through old Italian postcards, and rummage through boxes of vintage clothes.
